Environmental Impact Assessment for Chosen product
Durda, Tomáš ; Řezníčková, Hana (referee) ; Krbalová, Maria (advisor)
The Master´s thesis is structurally divided into the theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, the author describes current global environmental issues and the impact of the industry on the environment. The current state of the environmental legislation in mechanical engineering, environmental management systems, and methodologies of an environmental impact assessment are described. The practical part deals with the environmental burden of the snowboard production process according to the LCA method. Life cycle inventory is performed to evaluate individual materials whose production is the most environmentally damaging. At the last stage, possible measures are proposed to reduce the environmental burden.
Ecological aspects of construction production
Šebestová, Michaela ; Vaňková, Lucie (referee) ; Krejza, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis processes an analysis of ecological load in a building process. In the theoretical part of the thesis the basic concepts of ecology and contruction are described. The most serious ecological problems connected with construction production are identified along with reduction measures of these problems, their possible appreciation and embedding in legislation. The practical part of the thesis deals with the issue of human impact on the environment within the life cycle of construction production. The effects of selected ecological aspects, which could affect the normal price, are discussed. The thesis sets out theoretical calculations for the valuation of harmful emissions, energy and water consumption and waste management.
Environmental advantages of using heat pumps in newly bulit family houses in climate conditions of Belarus
Kazhamiaka, Alena ; Přibil, Rudolf (advisor) ; Matějíček, Luboš (referee)
Comparison of types and efficiency of the heat pump, a brief analysis of the physical principles and conditions satisfactory operation of the heat pump in family houses. Comparison of emission and energy characteristics of commonly used types of fuel for heating houses. Analysis of the ecological footprint of conventional fuels and heat pumps. Introduction to the major geomorphological and climatic conditions of Belarus and design of appropriate types of heat pumps for different locations. Overview of additional saving measures for new houses in Belarus. Perspectives of environmental measures in Belarus.
Social metabolism in Czech and Czechoslovak territory in historical perspective
Grešlová, Petra
This dissertation is based on the conceptual framework of social metabolism and it applies methods of Material and Energy Flow Analysis and Ecological Footprint. It studies interactions between human activities and natural environment in Czech/Czechoslovak territory from the historical perspective (after the division of Czechoslovakia for Czechia and Slovakia together). The term of social metabolism is a metaphor inspired by biology. Society or human economy similarly to a living organism which extracts materials from the earth, processes biophysical materials to maintain itself and emits its wastes back. So the economic system functions in an analogy to a living organism and those processes are called "social" or "industrial" metabolism. This dissertation comprises seven individual empirical studies: (I) An introduction to a research topic covered in following articles. It is based on the work of leading world environmental historian and it interprets selected Czech realities within the context of the world environmental history. (II) The historical series of MEFA indicators together with ecological footprint. (III) An article which applies the ecological footprint method on the ecological farm in comparison to conventional agriculture in the context of more foreign studies on this topic. (IV) An...
Staroba vozového parku ako indikátor úrovne ekonomiky
Dudíková, Klaudia
The Diploma thesis researches the existence of relationship between the age of vehicle park and the level of economy. The research is based on the influence of the age of the vehicle park and its impact on the economy growth and development in the countries of European Union. The impact is examined by one-dimensional regression analysis and by panel analysis. The independent variable is the age of vehicle park and the dependent variable is GDP, HDI, Ecological footprint and carbon dioxide emissions. The European Union countries are divided into groups by using cluster analysis.

Czech and Dutch Audience and Their Perception of Enviromental Issues on the Example of the Big Bang Theory Series
Homolková, Lenka ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
In this work, I focus on the propagation of environmental issues through sitcom and comparison of the perception of these topics by Czech and Dutch audiences. I report on the results of focus group research of the American show The Big Bang Theory (2007-2019), from which artefacts were pre-selected with the assistance of thematic analysis. These findings suggest different perception of the environmental contents included in the researched series, the same as the varying perception of hypothetical promotion of the environmental issues in the future series. Generally speaking, the global sample perceives the promotion of environmental issues in popular media positively, though the degree and the form of the accepted usage of these topics vary. Czech audiences perceive the topics more negatively than the Dutch audience, showing a lower sensitivity threshold for a possible attack on their own opinions and identity. The most significant differences were observed in the perception of the concept of nature, the person interested in the environment, and the individual impact on the improvement/deterioration of the environment. A suitable tool for communicating environmental issues in the sitcom is corrective irony (allowing to emphasize the contrast between environmental awareness and personal actions to...
The carbon footprint of households in South Bohemia
VOŠTOVÁ, Marie
The thesis deals with carbon footprint of households in South Bohemia, namely greenhouse gas emissions associated with the ordinary activities of each of us. The main objective of this thesis is to calculate the carbon footprint of households in the South Bohemia Region. The partial aim is then to assess which of the monitored components has the largest share of the total carbon footprint. These components are heating, electricity, cars, public transport, flying and food. Another partial objective is to compare the results in sociodemographic groups, which are residence, gender, education, age and income per person. The theoretical part explains the concepts such as global warming, sustainable development, ecological footprint, carbon footprint, and three already realized research on carbon footprint. The practical part describes the data acquisition, GILDED project, which was the inspiration for this thesis and method for calculating the carbon footprint. The main part consists of evaluating the calculated results, not overall carbon footprint, but also comparisons within categories of residence, gender, education, age, and income per person. The thesis finishes with the summary, which summarizes the most important results.

Comparison of the EU and Russia environmental policy
ROMANCHUK, Yana
For the last 50 years the environmental problems have been the biggest and the most urgent problems in the world. International organizations and countries use policy to control and regu-late this situation. There are a lot of actors on the environmental policy scene, but each of them has the same goal to retain or to improve the living conditions for our future generations. This work is focused on European Union and Russia. Both significantly affect the ecological situation on our continent, but have different attitude to this issue. This work focuses on current situation, current ecological footprint of each country and region. The environmental policy comparison of these two regions is unpredictable because of natural capacity of Russia.
